An editor provides another look at your story through detailed eyes. With my editing services, I focus on strengthening your writing so your story can shine through. I will never seek to rewrite your work; instead, I will show you where you can improve, make suggestions, and help you understand writing style and genre conventions. I will be available to answer any questions you have along the way, too.
Levels of editing
Developmental editing
A focus on big picture elements of your story, including plot line, pacing, character development, setting, POV, and dialogue. I will make in-line comments and send a separate write-up with my feedback and suggestions.
For developmental edits, I’ve learned from and will reference a variety of works, such as On Writing by Stephen King, The Art of Fiction by John Gardner, and the series, Elements of Fiction Writing. I also draw from my experience as an author of more than a dozen novels.

Line editing
A detailed analysis and editing of a book’s sentence structure, flow, style, word choice, mood, tone, grammar, and punctuation. I will make in-line edits directly in the text with Track Changes on.
I do line edits using the Chicago Manual of Style, while taking into account an author’s personal style. I have a Teaching English as a Foreign Language Certificate and have taught English to speakers of other languages, so I have a unique grasp on English grammar, vocabulary, and usage.
Cost: $.007/word
Combined editing: I can offer both developmental and line editing on a project in two rounds. Cost per word varies by project.
How it works
I use Microsoft Word’s Track Changes to make changes line by line. I also use comments throughout the document to make suggestions, share my reading experience (for developmental editing), or explain my edits (for line editing).
You will also receive a write-up of my overall thoughts. For developmental editing, this will be longer. It will cover all the important elements of fiction and my recommendations for improving the work. For line editing, I will make general suggestions and recommendations to improve your writing style.
I accept payment via PayPal and/or Stripe. Half will be due at the beginning of the project, and half will be due upon delivery.

- Mainstream/upmarket
- Romance (not erotica, but I will read steamy scenes)

Sample edits are free and will be completed in 2-3 business days. This will give you the opportunity to see my style of editing.

About me
I’ve been writing ever since I was a little girl and I have written fifteen novels, four novellas, and dozens of short stories, so I understand writing from an author’s perspective. I worked as an editor for a small press called Entranced Publishing for two years. I’ve spent countless hours in partnership with other writers doing free critique work and beta reading.
